Assessing Your Risk Tolerance

Each individual investor has a different risk tolerance based on their own set of circumstances. Some factors that could effect these tolerances are:

length of time to obtain an investment goal,
current amount of assets and
past experiences

Thus it is important that today's investor approach the investment process with some knowledge of their own risk tolerance. In addition, with the influx of financial information available in today's media, it is important that investors remember their goals and risk tolerance in digesting this information. It's not uncommon for recent success stories to make investors feel like they are missing something or that their investment program is inadequate.
